Reinforcing Steel Bars

//About

Reinforcing steel bars are specially shaped steel bars used in reinforced concrete structures to increase structural integrity when embedded in concrete. The surface of these bars is specially ribbed (grooved) for better adhesion to the concrete. Ribbed rebars, which are produced in standard lengths of 12 meters, are available in various thicknesses such as 8, 10, 12, 14, 14, 16, 16, 18, 20, 22, 22, 24, 25, 25, 26, 28, 30, 32 mm in diameter. This special surface design increases the shear resistance of the rebar in the concrete and contributes to the load bearing capacity of the structure. The proportions of manganese (Mn) and carbon (C) in ribbed iron affect the overall quality of the iron produced by hot and cold processes. These irons are preferred to make structures more durable, especially in areas of high seismic activity.

//Applications

Ribbed iron is one of the basic materials of the construction industry with its wide range of applications. The main areas in which these irons are used are as follows:

  • Reinforced concrete structures: It is used in foundations, columns, beams and slabs of reinforced concrete structures such as buildings, bridges, viaducts. It increases the durability and seismic resistance of the structure.
  • Foundation Reinforcement: Used in the foundations of buildings to increase the bearing capacity of the soil and stabilize the structure.
  • Seismic Retrofit: Plays an important role in strengthening the existing structural systems of buildings in seismic zones.
  • Prefabricated building elements: It is used in the production of prefabricated reinforced concrete building elements. This provides fast and economical construction solutions.
  • Infrastructure projects: It is preferred in infrastructure projects such as dams, water channels and sewage treatment plants to increase the resistance of structures to water and external factors.
  • Industrial buildings: It is used in the construction of industrial structures such as factory buildings, warehouses and hangars to meet the high strength requirements of such structures.

The wide range of diameters and special surface finishes of rebar provide the solutions that structural engineers and contractors need for all types of projects. These bars are a must-have material for modern construction techniques and durable structures.
